Works of Chinese Poets

Works of Chinese Poet: Wang Wei

Wang Wei is also a well known poet in China during the Tang Dynasty. According to Wikipedia, he had written about Three Hundred Tang Poems. "One-hearted" (Xiang Si) and “Deer Park" are the two examples  of Wang Wei's poems.

One-Hearted

When those red berries come in springtime,
Flushing on your southland branches,
Take home an armful, for my sake,
As a symbol of our love.

What I understood in this poem is that, Wang Wei is describing the things he saw like the fruit. In this poem, we can perceived how much love he had for nature.

Deer Park (Wang Wei)

On this lonely mountain I see no one,
Yet I hear the echo of voices.
Rays of sunlight enter into the deep forest,
Shining once more upon green moss.

What I understood in this poem is that, Wang Wei was alone in a mountain. In this poem, we can generalized the thought that Wang Wei still enjoys his own company even though no one was with him. We can also perceived how much of an observant Wang Wei is based on how he described what he saw and heard.

Overall, what I learned from Wang Wei's poems is that, we should learn to appreciate the beauty of nature. I also learned that, being alone is not always so bad because you can enjoy your own company, and  spend time with yourself. Enjoying your own company and spending time with yourself, can be considered as self-love. I also learned that, being alone also makes you an observant because you get to look at the things in front of you and listen to the sound around you.
