Chinese Literature: Works of Chinese Poets

Works of Chinese Poet: Po Chu-I

According to Wikipedia, Po Chu-I is also known as Bai Juyi or Bo Juyi. He is a well-known poet in Tang Dynasty. His most famous works are the long narrative poems "Chang hen ge" ("Song of Everlasting Sorrow"), which tells the story of Yang Guifei, and "Pipa xing" ("Song of the Pipa").

"Chang hen ge" ("Song of Everlasting Sorrow")

This poem tells the story of Yang Guifei. A story that is commonly known by the Chinese people. According to Wikipedia, there are people who also wrote a novel, created a movie, and made a paintings about this literary piece of Po Chu-I.

What I learned from the poem is that, every King needs a Queen or every man needs a woman in his life because there are man who cannot live without seeing their beloved partner. I also learned that, not all the time our love ones can saved us from danger but just because they could not save us, it does not mean that they do not love us. It is just that sometimes people have limits on the things they do. I also learned that if you want to feel a connection to a dead person, you do not need to go beyond what human can do, what you need to do was move on and continue living your life because even if the person is dead or the most important person in our life is dead, their memories and the moments you shared with them will forever be instilled in our heart and mind.

"Pipa xing" ("Song of the Pipa")

According to Wikipedia, this tells the story of the author himself. This is the story when he meet a female song player that played Pipa Xing.

What I learned from the story is that some people are able to understand our emotions and sometimes they can also relate to our own experienced. I also learned that, we should learn to appreciate other people's talents because behind those talents they have, hides the story of their life. Therefore, we should listen to other people's story, not for gossips but rather for knowing their story, even though we do not really know them well.
