Persian Literature: The Beautiful Queen of Persia

 The Beautiful Queen of Persia

The Beautiful Queen of Persia is about the story of Queen Esther. The story begins with Xerses (Ahasuerus ) becoming the king of Persia when his father, Dairus, died. King Ahasuerus  was a king who did a lot of foolish things. One day, while having a feast with other nobles, he called for his wife and ordered her to show everyone her face but the Queen refused. This angered King Ahasuerus, so he sent her away for she will no longer be queen. The King then decided to find a new queen and he told commands everyone to search for the most beautiful  girl in town. The beautiful young women, including Esther, were brought to the kingdom. Ahasuerus fell in love with Esther right away and chose her to be the queen. At the queen's chamber only the king is allowed to enter, so Mordecai, the cousin of Esther just watch and hear her outside the window near the gate. One day, Haman became the adviser of the king and was respected by all men in town. When he came to the palace he saw that Mordecai did not bow to him and was even angered when he found out that Mordecai was a Jew. Haman went to the King and told him to create a law that would kill any Jews who are near the kingdom, and the King allowed him to do so. Mordecai heard the news and told Esther about it. Esther told him about the planned that she will talk to the king and let it be the will of the gods if she dies or not. One day, Haman saw Mordecai again and asks the king to hang Mordecai but the King refuses because he also honored Mordecai. King Ahasuerus command to Haman that Mordecai will be dress as him, who'll look like a royalty. King Ahasuerus told Esther that she could wish anything from him and she told him about Haman killing her people, the King was angered by this and told the guards to hang Haman. All Haman's relatives were also put to death because of the cruelty he did to the Jews.

Hate, cruelty, marriage, family, and feminity are the themes we can find in the story. The main characters include King Ahasuerus, Queen Esther, Mordecai, and Haman. The conflict was man versus man because it talks about the story on how Esther save her people from the cruelty of Haman.

What I learned from the story is that, we should learn to fight against the injustice of people against us. I also learned that it is our right to protect our people who are being manipulated by a cruel person. I also learned that, just because you are a woman it does not mean that you cannot do anything for others, because there is no gender required in helping other people. I also learned that we should learn how to select a good leader who choose to do good things for his/her people and not just for the good of oneself.
