The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam
According to Wikipedia, Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is poem that has about 304 rubaiyat (quatrains). This poem is translated into more than 60 languages, one of which is English that was translated by Edward FitzGerald.
3rd rubai:
And, as the Cock crew, those who stood before
The Tavern shouted --"Open then the Door!
You know how little while we have to stay,
And, once departed, may return no more."
The 3rd rubai is just an example I choose from Khayyam's The Rubaiyat. What I understood in this part is that, in the first line "as the Cock crew" it means that it is a new day. In the second part wherein the Tavern shouted to open the door, it somehow reflects that we should seize the day or go on with our lives. In the last two lines You know how little while we have to stay, And, once departed, may return no more." it reflects the idea of life and death.
What I learned in this particular part I have chosen is that, everyday is a new day and we should go on living our lives because in this world we only stay here for a little time. Life is short as what we usually others would say, which I totally agree. Therefore, we should continue living our lives because the day we die we won't be able to return with that kind of life anymore and we should continue living our lives and seize every moment we have because we will never know when we will die.
